Calculator notes

Simple and Advanced use the same exact plate math. Advanced only exposes more controls, including collars, Smith machine starting resistance, mixed plate units, and extra edge-case load options.

Olympic bars use 2-inch Olympic plates. Standard 1-inch bars use standard 1-inch plates. Switching display units converts the target and result, but hardware still determines which plates fit.

Smith machines vary by model, so the starting resistance is editable. The calculator defaults Smith machine starting weight to 20 lb.

Always load equal weight on both sides. When the calculator says different plates on each side, it means equal side weight with different plate combinations, not an imbalanced bar.

The DailyGoal workout log uses the same exact-plate solver under the hood. See all features
